BLK Matte Lipstick Review

What was the hype all about? Oh.. it’s Anne Curtis’ makeup line, I thought. I wondered if it really was something worth trying.

A few days after the launch, my officemates were talking about BLK and we were all so very curious. And a day or two after that, one of them bought a matte lipstick in the shade, Fearless. We all instantly tried it and well, the rest was history! Here’s a photo of us all wearing Fearless.

The shade was bold. I liked it. I wanted my own! So during my next trip to SM, I bought the same shade. Consequently, I found another more neutral hue, Chic, that I instantly fell in love with. During the week that followed, I wore Chic almost everyday. It became my go-to lipstick. Here’s what Chic looks like.

Here’s a quick review after about two weeks of using both shades.

What I Love:

Shades – Chic is a perfect nude brown that’s appropriate for daily use. It’s dark, but not too intimidating. Fearless is bold and daring–take it with you on a night out! I tried the other shades and they’re all really nice, too.

Pigmentation – The lipstick is highly pigmented so you really get beautiful color on to your lips.

Price: The lipstick is only Php 299–super affordable!

What Could Be Improved:

Longevity – It doesn’t last very long. I need to retouch several times when I use these lipsticks.

Moisture – My lips don’t get too dry (unlike with other brands), but I do need to moisturize using lip balm sometimes.

Now we all have several shades of this lippie. We even got to try the bridal colors that Anne wore during her wedding! Check out the video we did on the bridal shades here.
