I hated hearing this from my mom. I felt like it was an easy way out for something she said or for scolding me without having to fully explain it to me. Now more than ever, I have come to understand. Everything. All those times she said this, she was right.
Korea was not initially in our bucket list, but since we love Korean food and I had recently gotten into the Korean beauty craze, it was about time we booked a ticket to this popular Asian destination. We spent a total of five days exploring Seoul and immersing in the city life. Here’s a quick recap of where we went, what we did, and what we love about Korea.
First Stop: Hongdae
When we were doing research, we discovered that Hongdae was the place to be if you were young and into everything K-Pop. We aren’t K-Pop fanatics but we did consider ourselves young-ish (haha!) and we wanted to explore this side of town. We booked our Airbnb just a stop away from the main street.
Hongdae is full of character–from the street food, to the students that perform a whole repertoire of K-pop dances and songs on the streets. Everywhere you look, you’ll find something interesting. Small shops line the streets with unique finds and the most unusual of things. You’ll also come across thrift pop-up stores where you can find Korean fashion wear at affordable rates. We also had the BEST Korean barbecue in a restaurant in Hongdae called Red Piggy Bank. If you visit the area, please make room for a meal here. And even if we had quite a lot of time walking around this area, I felt like I still needed to see more of this lively place.
This obsession about lippies began mid last year, when I discovered the myriad of looks you can achieve by just changing your lipstick color. Also, you don’t really need a lot of makeup if you dabb on a beautiful shade onto your lips–a plus for lazy people like me who won’t ever do a full face on a daily basis. I have a few favorites that I always keep at hand, namely Happy Skin in the shades Wonder Woman and Crushing on You, and Clinique in the shade Bare Pop. But I decided to try this new line my sister-in-law was raving about, Powerlips Fluid Lipstick. Here are a few of my first impressions about this new item on the market.
Last month my family and I went on a five-day cruise on the Superstar Virgo. Since none of us had been on a cruise before, it was a new experience we all were eager to try. If you’ve been keeping up with my posts and my Instagram account, you know that my family loves to travel. We like to visit old and new places, and we’re an adventurous bunch.
Some days I just feel like there’s never enough time for everything, and that life is tiring. Correction, “adutling” is tiring. Busy days just eat me up alive. Work. Chores. Sleep. Repeat. By the time I get into bed, I feel like the day was a blur.
I was at that point again a couple of days ago. I had slipped into the sheets, fresh form the shower, and I took my book. I was about to flip through the pages to carry on where I had left off when I heard a faint sound. My husband was fast asleep. I could hear him breathe faintly despite the sound of the air conditioner, and he murmured a few inaudible words. Probably dreaming of work–haha, yes he does a lot! It was then that I realized something I had failed to give importance to while trying to make it through each busy day.
Life is too short. To be truly present in every moment is something I should always strive for. We had just experienced a scary incident last month. If things did not turn out as they did, I wouldn’t know if we’d be here. How could I have forgotten so fast. It may be tiring, it may feel like such a routine, but I can’t let myself forget that it’s precious. All of it.
What was the hype all about? Oh.. it’s Anne Curtis’ makeup line, I thought. I wondered if it really was something worth trying.
A few days after the launch, my officemates were talking about BLK and we were all so very curious. And a day or two after that, one of them bought a matte lipstick in the shade, Fearless. We all instantly tried it and well, the rest was history! Here’s a photo of us all wearing Fearless.
Well, I am.
I’ve read and heard (from several people) that washing your hair every day–and twice a day as we do here–can be damaging and drying for your hair. Naturally, I got really curious about dry shampoo. Dry shampoo is said to soak up oil, add volume, and leave your hair fresh all day without damaging the hair. That got me right away so I started reading up some more and here’s what I found.
Last July, the Perreras family decided to visit Bohol for a relaxing summer getaway. I had been to Bohol before, but it was only a quick overnight stopover so I wasn’t able to see much. Luckily, during this second trip, the family made sure to see what the city had to offer, and allot enough time to enjoy the beach.
